Welcome to The San Antonio Foodie
The San Antonio Foodie is a locally-run food guide dedicated to helping residents and visitors find the best restaurants, dishes, and hidden gems across San Antonio, Texas. From taco trucks on the Southside to fine dining downtown, we eat our way through the city so you don’t have to guess where to go next.
Meet Ashley — The Face Behind The San Antonio Foodie
Hi, I’m Ashley Jrubio, a 27-year-old San Antonio native and lifelong food lover. I grew up on Tex-Mex, backyard barbacoa, and Sunday breakfast tacos, and that early love of local food turned into a passion for exploring every corner of the city’s dining scene. Over the years I’ve eaten my way through hundreds of restaurants — from family-owned taquerias that have been open for decades to new spots putting a modern spin on San Antonio classics.
I started The San Antonio Foodie because I kept getting the same question from friends and family: “Where should we eat?” Instead of answering one text at a time, I began writing it all down — honest reviews, practical guides, and recommendations based on real visits, real meals, and real opinions.

How We Choose and Review Restaurants
Every recommendation on The San Antonio Foodie is based on genuine visits and firsthand experience. When we review a restaurant or dish, we consider:
- Food quality and taste — is it worth going back for?
- Value for money — does the price match the experience?
- Service and atmosphere — how does the place feel to actually eat in?
- Consistency — would we recommend it to a friend without hesitation?
We don’t accept payment in exchange for positive reviews. If a post includes a sponsored mention or affiliate link, it will always be clearly disclosed — see our Disclaimer for full details.
